On Thursday, 8 October 2026, the Greek Paralegal Association participated in the event “Beyond Support: The Modern Paralegal’s Role in Legal Success,” organized by Nomiki Bibliothiki as part of the Certified Paralegal educational programme, under the auspices and with the support of the Hellenic Association of Law Firms (HALF) and the Greek Paralegal Association.

The event highlighted the modern role of Paralegals in law firms and corporate legal departments, as well as the specialized knowledge and skills required to provide effective support for legal work.

A welcome address was given by Magda Maggita, President of the Greek Paralegal Association, who spoke about the importance of specialized training, the development of professional skills, and the continuous professional growth of Paralegals in an ever-changing legal environment. Particular emphasis was placed on the contribution of the new generation of Paralegals to shaping the profession, as well as on the need for increased recognition of their role in Greece.

The discussion featured Sotiris Isaia, Lecturer at Webster University; Matilda Hatzipanagiotou, General Counsel and Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at The American College of Greece; and Ioannis Karanikas, Quality Management Director at UCERT. The discussion was moderated by Mary Orfanou.

As part of the event, Mr. Ioannis Karanikas presented the new collaboration between UCERT and Nomiki Bibliothiki, which aims to develop a reliable and accredited framework for the certification of Paralegals’ professional qualifications. This initiative seeks to strengthen the independent assessment of professional knowledge and skills, ensure the competence of practitioners in the field, and enhance the credibility and recognition of their qualifications in the Greek labour market. At the same time, it represents an important step towards highlighting the professional role of Paralegals and strengthening confidence in the services they provide within today’s legal sector.

The Certified Paralegal Programme celebrates twelve years of continuous operation this year, having established itself as a reference point for education and professional training in the broader legal sector. Over the years, it has helped build a dynamic community of professionals committed to advancing the role and recognition of the Paralegal profession in Greece.

The event concluded with the presentation of diplomas to graduates of the Certified Paralegal Programme for the 2025–2026 academic year. The diplomas were presented by Mr. Ioannis Dryllerakis, Attorney at the Supreme Court of Greece and Managing Partner of the law firm DRYLLERAKIS & ASSOCIATES.

The Board of Director of Greek Paralegal Association supports initiatives that promote education, certification, and professional development, contributing to the advancement and recognition of the role of Paralegals in Greece.
